Students of Color College Fair

Westtown School is pleased to host its 3rd Friends Schools Students of Color College Fair on Saturday, October 24, 2009! For over 300 years, Friends schools have been recognized for outstanding college preparatory academics and are known for embracing the diversity of cultures and religions in their communities. At Westtown School's last students of color college fair, in 2007, more than 600 students attended from over 60 sixty different high schools. Over 125 colleges from across the United States participated in the fair. The purpose of the college fair is to:
  • Educate families of color about the aspects of the college planning and admission process that apply specifically to them.
  • Exposure to a wider range of colleges and universities.
  • Provide a networking and relationship-building opportunity between students and admissions professionals.
  • Reduce the social isolation experienced by students of color at predominately white institutions.
  • Provide parents with valuable financial aid and planning information.
  • Lift up Friends schools as a rich source of multicultural diversity.
