In Lower School, the goals and objectives of technology use
and instruction focus on the development of the attitudes, approaches, skills, and processes that will help children use technology to support their current curricular learning and work and to facilitate their future technology learning. We view the Lower School Computer program as a foundation of life-long learning and skills.

We have a dedicated Computer Lab with 21 computers as well as computers in the classrooms. The Library has a research center equipped with 10 machines and the library catalog is online. High speed internet access, SMART Boards, digital cameras, scanners, and laser color printers also support student work.
Our 1st-5th grade Computers curriculum is taught by a full-time computer teacher. The curriculum is connected with and supports projects in the classroom. These range from basic to advanced word processing, working with digital images, desktop publishing, keyboarding, paint programs, working with draw objects, creating spreadsheets and graphs, pursuing online encyclopedia and Internet research, programming in Scratch and Lego Robotics, and creating multi-media presentations. Students in first and second grades come to the lab once a week for class; students in grades 3-5 have class twice a week. Students can also come to work in the lab independently or with their classroom teacher. Faculty participate in on-going training for their own professional use and for use of the technology with their students.
