Middle School's After School Program
One hour of focus, one hour of fun!
Moosetracks is Westtown Middle School's after school enrichment program. Moosetracks offers help with study skills and organizational support, enrichment classes, after school activities, and recreation time.
A Typical Day at Moosetracks:
On a typical day in Moosetracks, students check in with a teacher from 3:15-3:30 PM to get their "Moose money" for a snack at the Belfry or the school store. At 3:45 PM students return to the Middle School and settle into the program. We use Quaker decision making to decide how the group will spend their free time. "Free play" hour can include a basketball game, a walk around campus or attendance at a sporting event on campus. Many students elect to take enrichment classes. We expect students to spend one hour focused in a class or on homework. Special events are planned for "Fun Fridays". Events can include a class with a visiting artist, nature exploration, bowling, sledding, cooking, computer games or a movie.
Study Skills
Each afternoon, Moosetracks students spend an hour completing homework. Students have access to computers and other resources, including supplies, study guides and calendars. The goal is to complete at least two assignments. In Moosetracks, we focus on organization, goal setting, and time management. Each day, the students check schedules for the next day or two and show the teacher what homework is due for each subject. Teachers and volunteers check to see that the assignments are written down in day-planners. Students set goals for every half hour of time at Moosetracks. We also focus on self-discipline and self-direction while encouraging fellow students to succeed. Every Wednesday and Thursday, we have Organization Day. Students reorganize everything from their notebooks to their lockers.
We look forward to seeing you in Moosetracks!
