Theater

Welcome to drama at Westtown! Westtown School enjoys a rich theater program. Our curriculum includes Acting & Improv, Theater I, Theater 2, Theater Design, and Directing. In addition to our academic offerings, Westtown has lots of other ways to get involved in theater. We stage four productions each year. In the fall term we produce a play. We produce a musical and the faculty play in the winter term. The faculty play is directed by two seniors who petition the previous spring for the opportunity to take on this mainstage slot in our season. The spring term finishes with our senior play. This play is open to any senior who wishes to participate and is always a fun culminating experience. We encourage everyone to audition for our productions--no prior experience necessary!

The ways to get involved in theater at Westtown don't end onstage. There are plenty of opportunities to participate behind the scenes. Students can help build and paint sets, hang and focus lights, design sound cues, apply makeup, create costumes, and serve as assistant directors and stage managers. And again, no experience is necessary.

Westtown theater is a great place to get your feet wet in many different aspects of drama. Students who don't want to participate in our mainstage productions can get involved in our smaller directing class play season or with the drama club. There's something for everyone in our department!
