The Department of Languages at Westtown is pleased to be able to offer the students of the three modern languages at Westtown the opportunity to participate in reciprocal exchange programs which complement the academic curriculum with an invaluable practical experience of actually using the language studied in its cultural context. Each of the three programs is unique in scope and design but all three involve reciprocity, sending Westtown students to countries where the language they study is spoken and hosting students from those countries here at Westtown.
The concept of reciprocity is extremely important to the Westtown community. Hosting students from our sister schools, widens the number of students who can benefit from the exchange and provides the entire community with the opportunity to interact with the guest students. Historically, the exchanges are extremely successful: they are invariably referred to by participants as among "the most significant" educational experiences they have while at Westtown.
In addition to the three exchanges involving the languages taught at Westtown, exchanges to Japan and Russia are also offered.
