Westtown Robotics, founded in 2003, is part of the organization For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology (FIRST). The team participates in the international FIRST's Robotics Competition (FRC), where Westtown Robotics is recognized by its team name, "the Metalmoose," and team number, 1391. Students on the team work with mentors to solve annual game challenges using real world applications of science and technology. Being a part of the Robotics team allows students to practice interdisciplinary cooperation, develop business, leadership and communication skills, and enjoy creative problem solving in a team environment.
"Westtown Robotics combines FIRST's vision of "creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders" with the vision of Westtown School, wherein students are challenged to "realize their individual gifts and passions while living and learning together in a diverse community"."
