Library
Our goal is to prepare students to become lifelong learners who have a love of reading and who are confident, ethical users of information and technology. Our main library offers a dynamic collection of more than 33,000 books, periodicals and audiovisuals, a wide range of on-line resources, and a number of interlibrary loan options.
Mary Hutton Biddle Library
The Mary Hutton Biddle Library, used by Middle and Upper School students, provides a quiet space for independent student work and resources to develop advanced research skills through curriculum-based assignments. The library has a particularly strong and well-used collection of young adult fiction to support pleasure reading.
Lower School Library
With a collection of over 11,000 books and a wide variety of on-line resources, the Lower School library program emphasizes the love of reading and introduces students to the research process. The Lower School library provides areas for storytelling, computer use, individual reading and group research.
Archives
The archives collects, maintains and makes available materials that relate to the people and history of Westtown School, which was founded in 1799. Students and faculty in all three divisions use the archives for research, under the supervision of a trained and experienced archivist.
Technology
Technology use at Westtown School is thoughtfully and deliberately integrated into the curriculum. Developmental appropriateness is a driving force in how we teach and use technology at Westtown. Our ultimate goal, however, is to utilize the tools of technology to enhance the school's charge of providing an essential education for all students.
