Music

Lower School students learn musical concepts through movement, body percussion, and speech patterns, which can be transferred to various instruments. We sing a range of songs in classrooms and as a whole at our weekly gathering. We include dance and movement at each grade of lower school. We have a full complement of percussion instruments and Orff instruments for the students to play, wonderful tools for improvisation and composition. Third graders learn to play recorder. Our instrumental program starts in fourth grade and continues into fifth grade. Students can play in the band or with the strings. They have opportunities to listen, watch, perform and create, demonstrating the power of music to move our Spirit and bring groups of people together. Students perform in Holiday and Spring Concerts.
