Upper School Closing Information
Early Dismissal due to Inclement Weather
Since the majority of Upper
School students live on campus, Upper School classes usually continue even when buses are not running. In the rare occasion when the Upper School has a late start or is closed, day student parents will receive a phone call from their child's advisor.
As soon as a decision is made to close Lower or Middle school, the information
will be available on the school's 24 hour weather emergency line:
610-399-7777
Parents may also call their individual school district emergency busing
phone number.
We understand that students who ride buses may be delayed according to the opening time of the individual district. Parents who drive their children to school should take into consideration their local road conditions. If day students can not get here safely, please call the upper school office at 610-399-7700 to confirm the student's absence for the day due to weather.
In the event of inclement winter weather:
(Please
remember that when Westtown School is listed

Early Dismissal Information
1.
Students should look for any early bus dismissal information on the Upper
School Office door. This information also will be shared at lunch.
2.
If a student leaves school during the day, he/she must sign out in the Day Student sign-out book on the counter in the Upper School Office
(and sign in if the student returns to campus that day).
3.
There only are three options for students who need to leave early:
a)
take the regular bus home at the early dismissal time;
b)
leave with their parent(s); or
c)
leave with someone else's parent(s) provided parental permission and an
invitation is received by the Upper School Office.
These
procedures are intended to insure student safety and to let the school
know when students have left campus. Frequently, parents call to inquire
about how their child is getting home. Parent(s) and students should
formulate a plan in the case of an early dismissal due to a winter storm
to avoid confusion about what to do.
If weather conditions prohibit you from picking up your child, you may request to have your child stay overnight on the dorm. Please call 610-399-7700 to confirm arrangements.
Thanks for your
cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free contact the Upper
School Office.
