Host Family Program

Leaving home to live in a dorm, miles away from your family can both exciting and scary. Our students rise to this challenge, but our aim is to make the transition easier for students by connecting them to a local Westtown family. Host families provide support in a variety of ways: they might invite students into their home, come to sporting or performance events, take students to dinner a few times during the year, to name just a few examples. The host family is not, however, required to provide housing over breaks.

While it is our desire to find a host family for every boarding student who requests one, priority is given to students based on their age (youngest first!), geographic distance from home and special transitional needs. All international students will be assigned a host family for their first year at Westtown. Often, this relationship continues throughout a students' career at Westtown. Families who participate tell us that they are enriched by this relationship and that they feel more connected to the Upper School community.
