Dean of Students:

The Dean of Students is responsible for the residential and student life programs involving day and boarding students. The Dean supervises and works with the Assistant Dean and residential leaders to establish and to maintain a community built on the Quaker values of integrity and of respect for the creative, intellectual, and personal gifts that each individual brings to the school. The Dean works closely with the Director of Studies and the Upper School Principal to provide leadership and support to the Upper School.

Assistant Dean of Students:

Westtown School is seeking an Assistant Dean of Students to provide leadership in all aspects of residential and student life. Responsibilities also include oversight of the student leadership program, student discipline, and student orientation. The Assistant Dean teaches two classes, does one co-curricular activity, serves on a variety of committees, and has residential duties. The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of Students.

Human Resources Specialist

Westtown School is seeking a part-time (50% FTE) Human Resources Specialist. Responsibilities include advanced, specialized, and high-levels of support in the areas of compensation, HRIS, policy, procedures, and compliance. The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant HR experience; knowledge of sound principles, practices, protocols, and analytical techniques in all aspects of personnel management as well as knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in personnel management, psychology, education, and equivalent
  • Knowledge of computer software, preferably Ceridian and Crystal Report, utilized in human resource data collection, analysis, and database management.

Middle School After-School Program Director

Westtown School, a Quaker preK-12 boarding and day school, seeks a dynamic individual to lead the Middle School after-school program. The after-school program meets from 3:15 to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday to provide students with academic organizational support, enrichment classes, and recreational time. The Director works collaboratively with an assistant to supervise students by providing an atmosphere conducive to good study habits and by organizing recreational activities for students such as outdoor games or sports booster activities. In addition to working with students, the Director is responsible for structuring the program, scheduling enrichment classes, publicity and coordinating billing. Strong candidates will hold a BA degree and will have experience working with 12-14 year olds in a structured setting.

Middle School Strings Position

Westtown School is seeking a part-time Middle School strings teachers for the 2008-2009 school year. The strings director works in coordination with choral and band directors to prepare Middle School students for two annual concerts, adjudication at Music in Parks, and various PMEA String Fests.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelors degree in music or music education, with preference being given to a masters or terminal degree in either music or music education
  • Classroom teaching and ensemble conducting experience
  • Basic playing skills on all string instruments including violin, viola, cello and bass with highly developed performing skills on one of these
  • A love for students in the sixth through eighth grades.

School Nurse

Westtown School seeks a registered part-time nurse. Rotation of night on-call and weekend hours included.

Middle School Core Teachers:

Westtown School anticipates possible Middle School Core Teacher openings for 2008-2009. Candidates should have expertise in English or Mathematics.

Leapfrog Assistant

Westtown School seeks a dynamic individual to assist in the Middle School Leapfrog after-school program. Leapfrog meets from 3:30 - 6:00 pm Monday through Friday to provide students with academic organizational support, enrichment classes, and recreational time. The Leapfrog assistant works collaboratively with the Director to supervise students by providing an atmosphere conducive to good study habits and by organizing recreational activities for students such as outdoor games, nature walks, or sports booster activities. Strong candidates will have experience working with 12-14 year olds in a structured setting.
