The Middle School program at Westtown provides myriad opportunities for students to learn and grow. Our children are strong students, yes – and athletes, artists, problem-solvers, innovators and leaders. Westtown Middle School students:

  • Think critically and abstractly as they practice skills essential for success in Upper School and beyond
  • Adopt technology – including a 1:1 iPad program – that helps them learn and connect in sophisticated ways
  • Experiment and test hypotheses in STEAM classes and elsewhere
  • Solve problems with increasing independence, in the classroom and through such signature programs as annual overnight canoe trips
  • Lead and collaborate – on Westtown’s ropes course, as Student Clerks and book buddies for younger children, and in the Work Program
  • Value effective communication, both oral and written, in English and other languages – Spanish, Mandarin, French, and Latin – as purposeful preparation for the global society of the 21st century
  • Participate in daily physical activity, including three seasons of interscholastic athletics
  • Give to the greater community by serving and volunteering
  • Create: in art and music classes, on stage and through purposeful projects in all classes

Westtown’s rigorous and encouraging atmosphere sparks new strengths and talents in Middle School students. Our teachers develop relationships that extend beyond the classroom – as mentors, advisors and coaches. It’s a respectful environment where young people are unafraid to try as they spread their wings in fresh and wonderful ways.
