Joe Tyler came to Westtown School in 2000 as Assistant Director of Admissions and Athletics. In the spring of 2001, he was named head coach of the Girls Track and Field team. In the fall of 2002, Joe became full time Assistant Athletic Director. Since that time, Joe has been head coach of both boys’ and girls’ teams and has also been coach of Westtown’s Indoor Track program. Joe has been a part of 10 Friends Schools League Championship teams (outdoor) since being at Westtown.
Coach Joe attended The Episcopal Academy in Merion, PA where he competed in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. While at Episcopal, Joe was three time 100-meter champion and member of Episcopals’ Interac Championship teams. As a graduate of Bucknell University, Joe ran the 100 and 200meter dashes in addition to the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. Joe was also a member of Bucknells’ East Coast Conference Championship teams.
In addition to coaching the girls’/boys’ track teams, Joe is a week day Duty Administrator and teaches 6th grade physical education. Joe earned a BSBA degree from Bucknell University in 1980. Joe and his family live on the campus of Westtown School.
I am an avid watcher of The FoodNetwork channel, but not the baking shows. My wife and I love to cook and I love to grill. I grill all year round and have been known to grill during snow storms. FUN FACT: We have four dogs which we rescued from Main Line Animal Rescue.
