Swimming began at Westtown in 1916 when a small group of students looked to expand their interest in the sport from a recreational to a competitive activity (History of Swimming), Even without a coach a group of 8 boys were able to place 3rd at the Swarthmore College Interscholastic Meet, which began a rich tradition of excellence in swimming at Westtown. Since then swimming has enriched the lives of countless young men and women contributing to multiple FSL & DISC team championships, hundreds of all-league honors and several top 8 finishes at the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championship.
I truly believe swimming is a lifelong sport and the benefits stretch outside the walls of the pool. Perseverance, focus, hard work and dedication are just a few, of many, attributes that swimming can enrich in a person’s daily life.
If you are interested in contributing to the rich history of swimming at Westtown, or just have a question about the program, please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.
