Message from the Principal

Dear Friends,

Back-to-School night always seems full of joy.  Joy for each other as parents and friends, joy for the adventures ahead and joy for the learning community your children are immersed in every day.

As I described last night, we are taking on contributing to the hurricane relief efforts.  The Kwaszkiewicz family, Hanna in third grade and Sara in Primary Circle, brought this opportunity to Lower School and offered to help with shipping our donations.

Whenever we embark on service work, we want the work to hold meaning for the children.  When we took a look at the list of needed items, we organized the collection around the developmental and personal interests of the LS community.  If you are led to donate:

Primary Circle: First Aid Items (Band-Aids, ointment)  Who loves Band Aids more than a four-, five- or six-year-old?

First Grade: Toothpaste and Toothbrushes  First graders lose more teeth than anyone else!

Second Grade: Diapers and Baby Wipes  Seven- and eight-year olds begin to want to take care of others as they realize they are "older."

Third Grade:  Soap and Body Wash  As third graders move toward the upper grades, self-care and health habits start to emerge.

Fourth Grade: Pet Supplies  T. Hilary is our St. Francis of Assisi – our guardian of animals in Lower School.  The pets in shelters will benefit from T. Hilary's ability to motivate children to care for living things.

Fifth Grade: Bottles of Water  Fifth graders are the strongest of Lower School and can lug those bottles into school!

If you are moved to pick up a few items this weekend, we will start collecting on Monday.  You are ahead of your children in knowing about this project.  We will share with the children on Monday in Gathering.

Enjoy the weekend!
