William Grier was a night watchman at Westtown School from 1899 to 1922. When he passed away in 1924, he left "the rest and residue of his estate" – $1,932.40 – to Westtown School. Over the years, that bequest has grown to more than $42,000. Grier's example shows that planned giving is not only for the wealthy; it is for anyone who wishes to make a difference.
