Mexican Summer Environmental Workcamp
Our longest running program is the Environmental Leadership Program. Offered during the summer, the program offers a week-long immersion in the stunningly beautiful Mexican cloud forest. The program is held at the Las Cañadas ecovillage in Huatusco, Mexico. This 600 plus acre property includes a dairy, reforestation areas, a cloud forest preserve, eco-tourism center, community school, bio-intensive gardens and wonderful views of local mountains. There are solar heated and wood heated showers and other eco-technologies for daily life, delicious meals, and pure mountain spring water. Participants work along side of Mexicans to practice sustainable life skills related to food production, natural building, preventing erosion and other conservation measures. This is a transformational experience, creating energy and optimism for a sustainable future. Many parents and young adults have also participated in the past and are welcome to join us.
