Bill Stull
Head Coach- Boys Cross Country

Bill Stull, a legendary cross country and track coach, joined the coaching faculty at Westtown School in September 2011. He brings three decades of committed expertise to his new position, having coached women runners who went on to national and international prominence.

Stull came to Westtown with broad experience coaching runners at a variety of levels, including high school, collegiate and word-class competitors. After graduating from Widener University in Chester, PA, he began his coaching career in 1976.Bill has ushered many women and men into outstanding college and world-class running careers. Stull says “I can take athletes where they want to go,” dedicating himself to each and every runner on the team, regardless of ability, so long as the student is committed to the sport. His training routine develops athletes over several seasons in order to avoid injury and burnout. Along with physical and mental stamina, he helps students build framework for life-long health and well-being. This kind of coaching is especially consistent with Westtown’s school-wide promise of excellence in academics and athletics that ultimately inspires graduates to live good lives.

Elson Blunt
Head Coach- Girls Cross Country

Elson Oshman Blunt has coached cross country and track at independent high schools over the past two decades. He was the assistant and then the head track coach at Wayland Academy (WI) from 1996-1997, then the head girls’ cross country coach at Park School (MD) from 1998-1999, leading the squad to their first league championship after an undefeated season in 1999. At Westtown School, Elson was an assistant track coach from 2005-2006 and assistant cross country coach from 2004-2007 and 2012-2014 before becoming the head girls’ coach in the fall of 2015.

In addition to coaching, Elson teaches math and economics at Westtown. He graduated from Haverford College where he ran on the cross country and track teams. Elson still runs regularly, both with the teams and during the off season, sometimes competitively and always for the joy of it. Elson lives on Westtown's campus with his wife Cheryle and daughter Karah.
