Performing Arts

Middle School students have a variety of opportunities to take their talents to the stage.

Whether in Band, Strings, or Chorus, our teachers are all professional musicians who are active performers. Students focus on ensemble work in classes that meet during the school day. In addition to developing skills in musical literacy and appreciation, our band, strings, percussion, and choral groups prepare for two concerts a year.

All the World's a Stage - and our students have the opportunity to shine in theater and film-making classes as part of our arts rotation. In addition, Middle School stages plays every year: a musical, a straight play, or in the case of a Shakespeare Festival year, three Shakespearean plays!

Acting, singing, building props, stage managing, even writing: Middle School students can get involved in the theater program in many ways. Each year the Middle School stages a musical or play. Every three years, each grade produces a Shakespeare play for our Shakespeare Festival.

Every Middle School student participates! Whether in the band, string ensemble, or chorus, students learn to read and appreciate music, listen to one another, and create.  Music classes happen during the regular school day. In addition to academic-day music practice, private music lessons are available for an additional fee.
