As outlined in the Archives Mission Statement, the Archives will collect school records and related material with permanent administrative, legal and fiscal value. Such records will be determined by the appropriate school administrators, staff, and the school Archivist. The collection of such records will be facilitated with records retention and disposition schedules in compliance with school policy and all applicable state and federal laws.
The Archives will also collect material with permanent historical value. Such material may be in a variety of forms (e.g., textual, visual, textiles, audio recordings, objects or artifacts, etc.) and should relate to the programs and people of Westtown School, including faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni. Material accepted from sources outside the school is subject to the gift agreement policies of the Archives.
We particularly welcome material that documents the student experience at Westtown, whether it is a single item or more. Other material regarding Westtown School, past and present, is also appropriate. Please contact the Archivist before sending or delivering items for donation to Westtown.
Please know the archives staff cannot appraise donated items, but we will provide documentation of the donation in the form of a signed Gift Agreement between the donor and school. The Gift Agreement formalizes the transfer of all property rights to the item from the donor to Westtown School.
