Introduction to CAD

Dates: June 21-July 9

Course Description: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for robotics, engineering, art, architecture, and theater design, supports students learning CAD tools, practices and workflows. Students can work with either a combination or a focus in Fusion 360, AutoCAD, Sketchup and Blender. Any student taking this class, depending upon the software with which they want to work, will be issued a Westtown School school email address in order to support access to the course materials and Learning Management System. A substantial final project is required.

Mechanical Engineering & Robotics

Dates: July 12-July 30
In-person only

Course Description: The development of engineered solutions requires mastery of fundamental skill sets based on the hands-on use of technical tools. In this project-based class, students will learn those skills as they fabricate mechanical devices ranging from simple components to operable, programmable robots. Using the principles of CAM (computer-aided manufacturing), students will construct pre-designed projects using a 3-D printer, laser cutter, CNC router or mill, and a variety of standard machine tools. No prior experience is necessary.

Teacher:  Larry Dech
