At the end of each school year Westtown recognizes graduating seniors who have invested significant time developing visual art with a culminating exhibition of their artwork. This work is typically displayed on campus and students and their families are invited to spend time investigating the work and speaking with the artists. Due to current circumstances, we are unable to show and view this work together. However, students and faculty are dedicated to maintaining this tradition, and are excited to bring together student work in this online format.
Westtown could not be more proud of these students who have continued their work at home over the past few months. Student experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic have been drastically different, and in many ways have shaped the artwork that is displayed in this show. Some students were able to carry on with their original works as planned, while others set off in new directions inspired by their current circumstances and developed new bodies of work that would have never been possible if we remained on campus.
These ten students have been scattered across the world, and their weekly zoom meetings bring them together from West Chester, California, Kenya, and South Korea. Through the pandemic they supported each other, offering feedback, support, and many laughs along the way to bring you this final show. Please take the time to explore their art, read their artist statements, and applaud them for this phenomenal exhibition. We wish them all the best as they take the next steps in their artistic journeys.
