In 1994, Ian Hutton ’08 entered Westtown School’s Primary Circle, and Ann and Steven Hutton began their journey as devoted members of the Westtown community. They have remained involved at Westtown since Ian’s first day. Ann currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees; she is clerk of the Advancement Committee and a member of the Committee on Trustees. The Huttons regularly attend and support Westtown events and remain close to other parents of alums. Even though they no longer have a student enrolled, they often attend graduation.
The Hutton family is also deeply engaged in the greater Chester County and Philadelphia areas. They are involved with many organizations that span from the arts to environmental preservation to education, and literacy to family and individual health. We are truly fortunate to have Ann’s and Steven’s extensive experience, enthusiasm, and wisdom.
In addition to their volunteer service to Westtown, Ann and Steven have also contributed philanthropic gifts since Ian first arrived as a student. They understand the importance of philanthropy, faithfully support the Westtown Fund, and consistently seek out and contribute to the most pressing needs of the school. Over the past twenty-seven years, Ann and Steven have made generous gifts to many areas at Westtown including: athletics; the science center and robotics; financial aid; and environmental sustainability. Ann and Steven were among the first donors to contribute to the renovation of the Center for the Living Arts.
“While academic excellence is central to the Westtown experience,” Ann says, “the school’s focus on Quaker values and developing the whole person is what sets it apart from other independent schools, what makes it transformational for its students, and what attracts us most as parents and donors. We really do believe the world needs more Westonians, and that belief compels us to continue to support this wonderful community.”
Gifts of service and financial support from friends like Ann and Steven are critical to achieving our mission to support each new generation of young learners and prepare them for leadership of a more just, equitable, and peaceful future.
