Ways to Give

We are extremely grateful to the 4,643+ donors who have contributed more than $51.5 million in support of our comprehensive campaign.

Your philanthropy directly supports educational innovation, new student experiences, our commitment to equity, justice, and community programs, investment in our faculty and staff, and our ability to serve as environmentally thoughtful stewards of our campus.

Each school year The Westtown Fund provides critical support for the most pressing needs of the school. From the classroom to the dorm room, and from the student teams and clubs to the care of our campus, there is no other fund that so directly impacts the work of our students, faculty, and staff. Loyal donors who make gifts to the Westtown Fund, year after year, contribute to providing our school with a strong financial foundation that enables us to respond swiftly and effectively to the needs of each unique school year.

Support Lighting the Way Featured Priorities

Capital gifts play a crucial role in advancing the mission and long-term sustainability of Westtown by providing the necessary resources to enhance the physical infrastructure of our beloved campus. Capital gifts may be funded over a term of years with gifts of appreciated securities, cash,or contributions from donor advised funds. Lighting the Way features two capital projects: The Center for the Living Arts, and the Dining Building.

An endowed fund is a long-term investment vehicle established to generate income that supports Westtown in perpetuity. Donors contribute to the endowment, and the principal amount of their gift is invested to generate returns over time. It is our current policy to distribute 4.5% annually (based on a twelve quarter trailing average market value of the endowment). The principal of the endowment is not distributed. Additional earnings are reinvested in the endowment. As of June 2024, Westtown’s endowment was valued at $126 million. Lighting the Way features two named endowment priorities: Faculty and Program, and Tuition Assistance.

To learn more about one of the priorities featured in Lighting the Way, please contact Ellen Urbanski, Dean of Advancement, ellen.urbanski@westtown.edu, 610.399.7915 or Amanda Young, Director of Capital Giving, amanda.young@westtown.edu 610.399.7920

For more than 200 years, Westonians have been “paying it forward” — helping future generations of students by including Westtown in their financial and estate plans. With careful consideration, there are ways that you can leverage your assets – real estate, retirement plans, insurance policies and more – to provide for your financial security, and also invest in Westtown’s future. If you would like Westtown to be a part of your legacy, consider naming Westtown in your will or living trust, or add the school as a beneficiary of a retirement account. You can designate your planned gift to an endowed fund or place no restrictions on its use. In this campaign we seek to raise $10 million in planned gifts, to date donors have committed $9.2 million

Donors have contributed a total of $7.1 million to projects and programs beyond our featured priorities annual giving and planned giving. These include gifts and pledges to areas such as unrestricted endowment, the Lower School Playscape, and the Oak Lane Athletic Complex.
