Step 2: Schedule a Call

Let’s get to know each other! Schedule a call with our Director of Pre-K–8th Grade Admission to share your hopes for your child and learn more about how we nurture curiosity, joy, and growth in our youngest students.

Step 3: Schedule a Campus Tour

Seeing Westtown in action is the best way to experience the warmth of our classrooms and the wonder of our 600-acre campus.

After your discovery call, schedule a campus tour at a time that works best for your family. In Lower School, we suggest an adult-only tour so that you can fully focus on the visit. Step 4: Begin Your Application/Submit Student Profile

When you’re ready, start your Standard Application Online (SAO).

To complete this step:

  • Create or log into your SSAT/SAO account.
  • Complete the Student Profile and select Westtown School.
  • Pay the application fee.

Once you’ve submitted the Student Profile and fee, your application will be transmitted to us, and we’ll follow along as your materials are submitted. We will reach out to you to arrange your child’s visit once you have submitted the Student Profile of the online application.

Step 5: Schedule a Student Visit

After we receive the Student Profile portion of your application, we’ll reach out to schedule your visit. This visit allows us to meet your child in a warm, engaging setting and for them to experience a day at Westtown.

PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN APPLICANTS:
Children meet individually with Tearson Morrison, Director of Pre-K–8th Grade Admission, for about 30 minutes of play and conversation, followed by a classroom visit.

GRADES 1–5 APPLICANTS:
Students spend a full visit day in their current grade, joining classmates for lessons, recess, and community time.

Step 6: Complete Your Application

All pieces of the SAO application listed below must be submitted in order for your application to be considered complete.

  • Parent Questionnaire
  • Teacher Recommendation – Completed by your child’s current teacher; for grades 2–5, we also ask for a recommendation from the principal or guidance counselor.
    Tip: Email your recommenders directly to let them know to expect the SAO request, as it can sometimes land in spam.
  • Student Transcripts – Submit the transcript release form through SAO to your child’s school.
    • Pre-K & K: No transcript required.
    • Grade 1: Provide any Kindergarten report card.
    • Grades 2–5: Provide final report cards/progress reports from the two previous school years and any current-year report.
  • Westtown School Supplemental Form – Once we receive your Student Profile, we’ll send you a short, school-specific form to complete.

Step 7: Testing

Outside testing is not required. Each applicant is assessed at Westtown in literacy and mathematics—or pre-K/Kindergarten readiness—during their visit day.

If your child completed a WPPSI, WISC, or other standardized testing within the past year, you’re welcome to include it. These results offer additional insight into their learning profile but are not required.

Important Information for the 2025-2026 Application Cycle

Westtown School is a member of the Philadelphia Region Independent School Enrollment Consortium (PRISEC).

As part of our shared commitment to a fair and transparent admissions process for families exploring independent schools across the Greater Philadelphia region, schools have agreed upon the following common admission process dates:

  • Earliest Application Deadline: December 1
  • Earliest Notification Date: January 10 
  • Earliest Commitment Deadline: February 15

Have you been asked to reply to an offer of enrollment or scholarship that does not align with these “no earlier than” process dates? Does a personal family circumstance require an exception to the above?

Here are the next steps:

  1. Call the school that is asking you to reply earlier than the agreed-upon dates above and ask for an extension on your reply to their offer.
  2. If no extension is granted, call the other school(s) to which you have applied and ask for an exception and expedited review and/or decision.
