Advancement Project Coordinator
Advancement Project Coordinator
Position Description
Westtown School seeks a Project Coordinator to begin immediately. Reporting to the Dean of Advancement, this entry-level position offers the opportunity for an early career professional to learn every aspect of the field of Advancement. The Project Coordinator will work directly with Advancement department directors to plan and administer selected projects and optimize workflow and communication within the Advancement department and among other departments schoolwide. The Project Coordinator will ensure that assigned projects run smoothly by controlling workflow, scheduling assignments, evaluating the course of the project and reporting its status to department directors and other stakeholders.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate project schedules, resources, equipment and information

Communicate with directors and the dean to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives

Ensure steady and clear communication as projects evolve

Coordinate project management activities, timelines, resources, equipment and information

Assign tasks and assist with schedule management

Analyze and offer opportunities for creativity, innovation, and efficiency

Monitor project progress and identify any issues that arise

Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports

Plan and manage goals, project schedules and new information

Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails

Develop in-depth understanding of project scope and particulars i.e. timeframes, participants, and outcomes
Prospective projects may include:

Assist in planning and execution of annual mini digital fundraising campaigns

Manage social media and messaging for the Alumni/ae/x constituency
-
Assist in the creation of digital and print stewardship and solicitation communications (email marketing, social media etc.) as part of an annual strategy to engage, steward, and solicit large audiences.

Assist in the organization of volunteer meetings and projects

Create and maintain communications calendar

Attend and/or support remote and in-person events sponsored by the Advancement Office (requires working some nights and weekends).

Qualifications

BA or BS or advanced degree preferred;

Some relevant experience, preferably in a non-profit or independent school environment, volunteer experience welcome;

Athletic Field Maintenance and Groundskeeper
Athletic Field Maintenance and Groundskeeper
Westtown School, an independent, PK-12, day and boarding Quaker school in West Chester, Pennsylvania, seeks a full time Athletic Field Maintenance and Groundskeeper to be responsible for maintaining Westtown School’s athletic fields, recreational areas, and campus grounds. The Athletic Field Maintenance and Groundskeeper will be responsible for grass/lawn care, pesticide application, and assisting with the overall maintenance of the school’s beautiful 600+ acre campus.

Essential Functions:
- Mows grass and trims lawns;
- Applies pesticides and treatments, as necessary;
- Prunes and mulches trees and shrubs, rakes leaves;
- Operates a tractor, loader, and other grounds vehicles;
- Weeds and maintains garden beds and around shrubs and trees;
- Plants trees, shrubs, and annuals as directed;
- Maintains all athletic fields and recreational play areas including layout, lining, mowing, seeding, fertilizing, and general maintenance.;
- Assists with removal and disposal of trash and debris;
- Removes snow and ice using power snow blowers, chemical ice melters, truck mounted plows, shovels, and/or ice scraper. Must be available for early morning and/or late-night hours when snow or ice is forecasted.
- Maintains campus driveways and parking lots;
- Provides support and manpower to other campus departments as necessary;
- Maintains professional and appropriate relations with all students and parents at all times;
- Maintains knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties;
- Reports unsafe conditions or suspicious activity as necessary;
- Committed to safe work practices and energy conservation at all times;
- Participates in departmental meetings/training, as directed.
- Experienced horticulturalists or turf specialists will be assigned duties tailored to their areas of expertise in addition to general groundskeeper duties.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 50 lbs. regularly. Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 100lbs. occasionally with assistance.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to push and/or pull heavy loads.
Other Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pesticide Applicator certification required, the School will cover the cost for renewal or initial certification.
- Minimum one year experience in the care and maintenance of similar facilities or equivalent education, training or experience.
- Ability to work within the overall organization of the Facilities department and work with skilled and unskilled personnel.
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.

After School Program Staff
Westtown School is seeking part-time staff members for its “MooseKids” after school program, for the 2020-2021 school year. MooseKids is a student-centered after school program for students in Pre-K to 5th grade offering engaging age-appropriate activities, in a safe and supportive environment. The after school program runs weekdays from 3:00-5:30pm, with some additional hours available during in-service days and school breaks.

Middle School Spanish Teacher
Middle School Spanish Teacher, beginning August 2021
Position description
The Middle School Spanish teacher works as an effective member of both a cohort of Middle School Language teachers and a grade-level team to develop innovative curriculum. The full-time teaching responsibility consists of teaching four year-long classes or the equivalent. The Middle School Spanish program serves as both an entry point for new language learners and a developmental next step for Spanish language students from Westtown’s Lower School. The successful candidate will be fluent in Spanish, be familiar with educational technologies, and will have experience with and a passion for teaching in the target language. Teaching assignments will include 6th grade Intro to Spanish, Middle School Spanish 1, and Middle School Spanish 2, with the possibility of an upper level Spanish class as needed.
In addition, the Middle School Spanish teacher is a member of the core Middle School team. Core activities include advising, supervision of study halls and recesses, chaperoning field trips, and related activities that contribute to the Middle School community and the educational experience of our students. Core teachers engage in at least one additional co-curricular commitment such as a season of athletic coaching, leading the robotics team, or advising for the yearbook. The successful candidate will be a motivated educator with strong content knowledge and a keen interest in and enthusiasm for working with Middle School students.

Teaching Assistant for Upper School
Westtown School is seeking a Teaching Assistant for our Upper School, beginning October 2020. The teaching assistant will support the upper school program by assisting with the management of the outdoor study and dining spaces, helping with shepherding students to locations, providing some technological assistance, if needed, and stepping in as a substitute teacher when needed. Responsibilities may include assisting with arrival and departure, overseeing lunch, and assisting in the classroom. Major Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

BA or BS degree required; advanced degree preferred;

3-5 years of relevant classroom teaching experience at the high school level, preferably in an independent school;

Enthusiasm for full participation in the coaching, advising and residential duties required of a full-time Upper School faculty member;

Ability to effectively engage students via in-person, remote or hybrid learning;

Experience and interest in teaching ESOL/ English Language Enrichment preferred;

Position Description
Westtown School seeks a dynamic new member for our Upper School Religious Studies Department to begin in August, 2021. A talented educator with a broad and in-depth knowledge of many different religious traditions and the cultural contexts from which they arise will thrive in our program. The successful candidate will join a team of educators who seek to be leaders in their field in a department that values collaboration and innovative teaching practices. The department’s work is rooted in our Quaker traditions and guided by our school's mission to cultivate each student’s voice as we challenge all of our students to realize their individual gifts. Together, the team passionately promotes religious literacy through a nondevotional and academic approach to religious studies.
A well-qualified candidate is one who will encourage students to ask big essential questions, challenge their assumptions, and see the study of religion as a way of promoting ethical citizenship and understanding in a religiously diverse world. We are especially interested in candidates with experience teaching courses in Religion and the Environment and/or the study of religion at the intersections of Race, Religion, and Social Change.
As an Upper School faculty member, they will teach four major semester-long classes, or the equivalent, and fully participate in the residential and co-curricular life of the school through evening and weekend dormitory supervision, coaching, advising and other faculty leadership responsibilities.

Security Officer
Security Officer
Westtown School is seeking an experienced part-time Security Officer for the following shift, alternating Sundays from 6:00am- 2:00pm, additional shifts may be available. The part-time Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Westtown School community, buildings and 600-acre campus. Security Officers are considered essential personnel and, as such, are expected to be available during inclement weather and other school-closing situations.
