Pre-K – 8th Grade

We are so glad that you are interested in Westtown School for your child’s pre-K through 8th-grade education, where they will be inspired and challenged to realize their individual gifts in a diverse community. Through our application process, we encourage you to get to know Westtown School on a deeper level as we also get to know you and your child. We look forward to getting to know you!

STEP 1: Request Information

To start the admission process, please complete our Inquiry Form online.

STEP 2: Schedule a Campus Tour

In Lower School, we suggest that your tour be adult-only. After you apply, your child will experience their own school visit (see Step 4). In Middle School, we encourage you to bring your student on your tour so they may all also ask their questions about the Middle School experience. STEP 3: Begin your Application

Begin the Standard Application Online (SAO). Click “Register/login” or “Get started with the SAO.” If this is your first SAO application, you will need to create an SSAT/SAO account. If you have used SAO before, you will simply log in. Submitting the student profile and paying the application fee will transmit the application to us. Student and parent essays, recommendations, and transcripts can follow. After we receive your initial application, we will send a short supplemental form to complete.

The application deadline is January 1.

STEP 4: Schedule a Student Visit

For PreK and K your child will visit with Tearson Morrison for about 30 minutes of playtime & games to get to know them and they will have an all-applicant play date in January.

1st – 5th grade students will have a visit day in their current grade. Tearson will reach out to you to set up your child’s visit once you have submitted the Student Profile of their application.

6th – 8th grade students will attend an all-applicant visit day on the first Friday of January as the final step of their application process.

STEP 5: Testing

For Lower School applicants: if your child has completed a WPPSI or WISC in the past year, we will gladly add that to their application file. We are happy to have this additional information about their learning profile, but it is not required.

For Middle School applicants: the SSAT or ISEE test is required.

PreK/K: readiness assessments are required and are conducted on site at Westtown during the visit.
1st – 5th testing: 1st – 5th testing: Outside testing is not required as applicants will be assessed at Westtown in both Literacy and Mathematics on their required student visit day. Applicants who have testing they wish to submit are welcome to do so. If a family is requesting accommodations, then testing would be necessary to support the request.
6th – 8th testing:
- Take and submit the SSAT test (Westtown School code 8164) or the ISEE test (Westtown School code is 395230).
- We can also accept ERB Testing.

Please the review the testing dates as soon as possible, as you want to select a test before the application deadline of January 1.

Westtown School is one of the test locations for the SSAT for the general public. Testing dates for all locations and registration can be found on the SSAT website.

STEP 6: Financial Aid
